My TNA Weekly Catch-up, Impact 5th June 08

The normal caveats apply, the views contained within are my own expressed how real people speak so if my views or strong language are likely to offend then don't read them. Any feedback is welcome and I will answer theme.
Impact 5th June 08 - King Of the Mountain Face-Off Match, Booker T & Robert Roode vs Rhino & Christian Cage. This was actually a totally even sided & decent match up until the point Brother Devon made his run-in. Team 3d gave Rhino a beatdown, score this win to Cage & Rhino off a DQ due to outside interference. I'd have preferred a clean finish though.
Knockout Street Fight Match, Velvet Sky (with Angelina Love in tow as per usual) vs ODB. ODB took this one to Sky from the bell throwing the contents of a spit-cup into her face & jumping her (having lost the hip flask last week after being hit in the head by it). Under streetfight rules its no DQ & ODB took it through the crowd only to be jumped by Love. After knocking Sky into Love (& Love off the apron) ODB took a great & well deserved win off the running power slam. A standard post match beatdown from The Beautiful People with Roxxi & Gail Kim making the save on ODB but it seems The Beautiful People now has some muscle in an unknown (& un-named) woman. (later named as Mickie Knuckles of CZW fame).
X Division King Of The Mountain Match (Winner gets a heavyweight title shot next week), Curry Man vs Jimmy Rave vs Chris Sabin vs Johnny Devine vs Kaz. KOTM rules apply, You have to pin any other wrestler (whoever you pin goes into the penalty cage for 2 mins) then climb the ladder and place the X to win. Highlights of this match were a reverse moonsault off the penalty box onto the floor by Johnny Devine. During a very badly timed break Jimmy Rave managed to pin Curry Man (with his Rock The World move), Sabin's awesome inverted pin on Jimmy Rave (after a springboard drop kick into a ladder), Curry Man's monkey flip on Kaz into a ladder. Kaz was the eventual (& pretty predictable) winner as they continue with his push. AWESOME match, killed anything WWE did on this years One Night Stand.
Raisha Saeed makes yet another challenge to the female TNA fans to beat Awesome Kong & win $25,000. We get 3 volunteers from the crowd & this week they aren't mere jobbers. 1st to step up was Amber O'Neal (formerly of SHIMMER), also up was Becky Bayless (of ROH & GLORY) and marking the F**K out like a crazy B**T**D for Daffney (formerly of WCW), the Queen Of Scream!

Awesome Kong vs Daffney, A bit of an offense from Daffney but Kong won this off the Awesome Bomb & it was good to see finally see Daffney in TNA even if it was to job to Kong. I hope this turns out to be more than a 1 match shot for both Daffney & the other 2 women who stepped forward this week. I'd mark out like a c**t if someone like Beth Phoenix or Nattie Neidhart stepped out for this challenge next week. Please, WWE?
6 Man Tag Match - Lance Hoyt (with Christy Hemme), Kip James & James Storm (with Jaqueline) vs Matt Morgan & LAX (with Hector Guerrerro & Salinas). LAX & Morgan were on top for the whole of this match, Morgan took the eventual win for his team.
Kurt & Karen Angle storyline c**p. No-one cares.
Grudge Match, AJ Styles vs Tomko with Kevin Nash as special enforcer. Styles took this one to Tomko from the offset. Not only was this mainly Styles on top but it was classic Styles of old. Gone is the bumbling idiot they were having him do recently & back is the real wrestler that everyone knows Styles really is. Styles' pele out of no-where was possibly THE move of this match setting up for the frogsplash to take the eventual win for AJ.
Some excellent post match run-ins and fighting and we'll see you all at the Slammiversary PPV!
