Ghosthunters Academy - S01E05 - The Blame Game

St Augustine Lighthouse, St Augustine Florida.

5 weeks into the show & they decide to bring in yet ANOTHER new person, Chris Smith who has absolutely NO training at all. Great so he's getting in on the 5th show, knows nothing. Why not just give the other students a loaded gun & ask them to play Russian Roulette? Chris also informs us this week is the penultimate show.

Hotspot walkthrough, everyone appears to be taking notes. Chris Smith gets brownie points for asking a good question. Steve tells them someone is going home this week. Quite frankly if its not Chris Smith the show is a complete sham, if not him then Jane for the exact same reason. Bringing new people onto the show during the run is totally unfair to those who were there since day 1.

Jane & Ben in the Lighthouse Tower - they try to debunk how the door gets unlocked but can't. They do an EVP, neither of them leave very long gaps for answers. We hear movement which they can't locate the source of, Steve gets on Janes case about going to check out the noise & what made it.

Karl & Chris Smith in the Keepers Quarters Basement - Tango gives Karl brownie points for his instruction method & his EVP approach.

Ben & Susan in the Grounds outside - Susan hears what sounds like an owl a very long way away & thinks its a woman screaming (talk about an overactive imagination!) but Ben debunks it as a bird. They hear a branch break but are unable to find the source of that noise.

Ben & Susan in the Lighthouse Tower - Susan is convinced she saw a shadow. Trying a recreation they easily debunk it as a light passing by outside.

Chris McCune & Jane in the Grounds - Steve rags on them for not knowing what they are looking for outside. Fair rant though. Steve also seems to be on Chris's case for other stuff too. Odd that, why didn't you attack him last week when he wandered off from his group TWICE?

Steve & Chris McCune in the Lighthouse Tower - Steve comes down from his Ivory Tower to give an Investigation Master Class. They also have a heart to heart & it turns out Chris misses home. If he misses home after only 5 weeks why did he bother applying to the show at all? Its not like its not a well documented fact that they travel all over investigating and are rarely near where they live so why is it a sudden surprise to Chris?

Chris Smith & Jane in the Keepers Quarters Basement - Jane thinks she smells something then hears a noise. Chris hears something which he thinks are some musket balls moving so they leave an audio recorder there & Jane gets scared by a cardboard cut-out.

Susan & Chris McCune in the Keepers Quarters Basement - Susan used a cigar, whiskey & a candle as trigger objects which scores her brownie points from Tango. Chris thinks he saw a shoulder which turns out to be a case of retina burn off the mini DV screen.

Karl & Chris Smith in the Lighthouse Tower - Chris says he heard something (super hearing then) which Karl says sounds like someone dropped something, I heard nothing.

Evidence Evalution - Ben presents audio of him & Jane that might be knocking (or running down stairs). During critiqueing all students Jane drops a massive clanger & rats out Chris McCune for being late coming to the evidence review & leaving early. Major mistake & a bad way to show shes not a team player (yet again!). She further compounds her screw-up by saying Chris McCune had told her he didn't want to be there.

As the other students are sent outside Jane & Chris McCune are kept back. Jane interupts Steve in seconds of his speech & is overly emotional. Chris McCune is sent home but it was so nearly Jane going home this week. If it'd been me in Steves shoes I would have sent them both home.

Next week is the final show and if I am honest it has to be Ben or Karl who wins. Quite frankly Jane dodged a major bullet this week and Chris Smith also does NOT deserve to be going into the final week as a competitor either.
