Dr Who Adventure game problems

If you do manage to install the game and only get audio with no video (ie:- music and no graphics) then the game won't run on your graphics card. Personally I think it won't run on anything under 256meg, it wouldn't run on my 128meg card.

Even if my PC did pass the system test.

Ghosthunters Academy - S01E09 - Dissension in the Ranks

Coming from Mark Twains House in Hartford, Connecticut.

This weeks cadets are as follows:-
Eric Baldino from Wilmington, OH.
Michelle Tate from Midland,TX.
Rosalyn Brown from Woodbury, NJ.
Adam Berry from Provincetown, MA.
Brett McGinnis from Boyers,PA.
Vera Martinez from San Antonio, TX.

Due to being picked as Steve & Tangos favourites on the last show Michelle & Adam are the 2 team leaders this week which means Adam is 2 for 2.
Dan Hwang from Newport, RI was eliminated last week.

In case you didn't know his real name was Samuel Clemens, Mark Twain was simply a pen-name which he took after hearing the river boat men use it to measure depth or speed.

Hotspot Walkthrough - Locations visited were the Front Hall, Dining Room, Drawing Room, Library, 2nd Floor Landing, Nursery & the Billiard Room. Oddly enough the team leaders weren't set on for not asking about power outlets like last week unless they asked off camera. Instead they were chastised for a poor choice of location for Centre Command (they chose the Mahogany Room but were told it was too close to a hotspot so instead set up in the Basement).

This week team leaders get to pick their own teams, Adam got to choose 1st after winning a coin toss.

Adam picked Brett, Michelle picked Vera, Adam picked Eric, Michelle had Rosalyn as she was the only one left.

Adam lost himself massive brownie points by allowing Eric to seemingly take charge & establish to Michelle where the cameras were set up, Steve even tested Adam in front of all the cadets to see if he knew where the cameras were.

Adam, Brett & Eric on the First Floor, the location wasn't specifically named but it appeared to be the Dining Room. Adam was babbling (which I've already complained about twice now, he never leaves gaps during EVP's) then heard a knock (which I didnt hear either time) & the EMF spiked from 2.5 to 4.7 when baseline had been 0.1. When Eric asked if they wanted them to stay I did hear 2 bangs, Brett said there were 3 though.

Michelle, Vera & Rosalyn in the Billiard Room - When Michelle was asking "what is your name" I did hear a big long creaking noise (which Rosalyn should lose marks for due to leaving her group without asking but Michelle should also lose marks for not pulling her up on it) & Vera seems to react to something touching her head & the camera did capture the sound of the female voice outside that Vera heard.

Michelles Team in the Butler's Room - This room wasn't visited but was mentioned in the Hotspot Walkthrough, Vera caught a brief cold spot under the bed which vanished in seconds but they didn't get a chance to explore further as Steve sent them down to the 1st Floor.

Adams Team in the Billiard Room - They also heard a long creak which they all instantly debunk as the floor moving, Steve tells them to try a new approach. Brett gets jumped on for not using his film experience when he screws up for not using an IR Illuminator.

Michelles Team in the Dining Room - Vera was getting some very erratic EMF readings, they weren't able to logically debunk it. She also felt a breeze on her face. Rosalyn seemed to be leading the EVP's in pretty much every room. We did see a short sequence of Steve & Tango with Michelles group talking about Tango formally being a clown (he said he used to scare kids) but we didnt see the whole thing.

Analysis - Brett presents audio from the Nursery that sounds female & Vera presents video of a sound caught on the 3rd Floor.

Evidence Evaluation & Judging Panel - They play Bretts Nursery audio, Veras video (which they claim was saying "Yes"). The "missed" video/audio that Steve presented was iffy at best & totally dismissable, I can understand no-one wanting to present that as it was REALLY clutching at straws. Rosalyn said she checked that tape. Jason asking each cadet for their opinion on who they'd get rid of :- Adam said Brett because he was making the most mistakes, Eric bandwagonned & also said Brett due to his interest level, Vera pretty much aped everything Eric said, Michelle also said Brett for similar reasons to Adam, Rosalynn said Michelle for the passion in the paranormal & Brett said Rosalyn for hindering other team members (based on stuff Eric said to him).

Steve picked Eric as his favourite which Tango backed up. Because of the odd numbers next week there will only 1 group investigating. Back in the RV Jason narrows the cadets down to Adam, Michelle & Brett and they all score well on Patience & Honesty. On Technical Knowledge Brett got picked up for his IR illuminator flub. Michelle got marked down for not using the digital thermometer during Vera's "hair" experience. For Composure Vera got marked down for being overtaken by her "hair" experience. Michelle gets marked down for not only losing control of her group but for never really ever having had control of it at all. Adam was described as "having plateaued" and being "robotic". Scepticism wasn't even discussed.

Brett is eventually dismissed.

I have no idea why no-one presented the audible female sounds Michelles team caught in the Billiard Room.

I decided after viewing this episode I would not be reviewing any more GHA shows.

Avast Antivirus Update

Had a little pop-up yesterday reminding me to update Avast so I updated it today, that should be all I need to do for another year.

Why the movie "The Breakfast Club" can not & never will work

Firstly the whole concept is flawed. A bunch of High School students are made to do detention on a Saturday.
I'll stop you right there, right now.

Any self respecting red blooded American High Schooler when told to come to a school detention on a Saturday will almost certainly tell whoever it is to go fuck themselves and WOULD NOT turn up.

Secondly they are there from 7:06am. Even if this WAS a school day (which we've already established its not) no school is going start at that kind of time in the morning. 8am maybe. 9am is more like it. So yet another flawed concept.

The group are left alone with no supervision. I think not, this is a school, their supposed to be students yet there is no adult supervision? I think not. Especially in a completely empty school?

Ghosthunters Academy - S01E08 - Crazy for Power

Coming from Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, Weston, West Virginia.

This weeks cadets are as follows:-
Eric Baldino from Wilmington, OH.
Michelle Tate from Midland,TX.
Rosalyn Brown from Woodbury, NJ.
Adam Berry from Provincetown, MA.
Dan Hwang from Newport, RI.
Brett McGinnis from Boyers,PA.
Vera Martinez from San Antonio, TX.

Due to being picked as Steve & Tangos favourites on the last show Adam & Rosalyn are the 2 team leaders this week.
Natalie Poole from Dana Point, CA was eliminated last week.

Hotspot Walkthrough locations visited were as follows - 3rd Floor Auditorium, 3rd Floor Hallway, Stretcher Room & the Forensics Unit. Steve takes his 1st chance to berate both team leaders for not asking about power outlets. Real cheap shot Steve, super weak.

Stretcher Room, Michelle, Eric, Rosalyn & Dan - Nothing was shown how the teams were picked or allocated to the team leaders, we just went from the doing set-up to talking about camera location choices then right into the investigation. Rosalyn noted EMF changes that Michelle stamped on right away as "not significant enough", they then heard a noise that they started to move towards when Michelle thought she saw a man.

Main Building Hallway, Rosalyns Team - This was the location where Michelle thought she saw a male figure go into a room that turns out to be empty, Eric & Dan move back to try and debunk it visually and wind up getting a gobfull from Rosalyn for what she perceived as "leaving the group" which Eric got VERY antsy about. Rosalyns point was valid as was Erics idea but the way they both bumped heads over it will earn them both black marks I think.

Forensics Unit, Adam, Vera, Brett & Steve (acting as their 4th team member so teams were equal I assume?) - Adam was a bit TOO keen with his statements & questions, obviously he wanted to please Steve but I think he was trying too hard & not leaving enough gaps for EVPs. Twice there were claims of hearing things (I heard nothing either time), Steve asks why they dont change their approach as the current one wasnt working then Vera asks out of the blue if anyone said her name (which no-one else heard) & this was her 2nd claim to a personal experience of hearing whispers.

1st Floor Bathroom, Rosalyns Team - This location wasn't on the Hotspot Walkthrough so I'm not sure what they were doing here. Michelle gets into the bath to try & provoke a response or interaction. Nothing happened.

3rd Floor Auditorium, Adams Team (no Steve) - Vera was getting EMF spikes from an apparent empty room until they checked the space behind it & found pipes causing the readings (probably containing electrical wiring).

3rd Floor Auditorium, Rosalyns Team (with Tango) - After Eric knocked the group claimed to hear something they moved towards (I heard nothing), after Rosalyn knocked Tango asked if the group heard a sound (when in the 3rd Floor Hallway) literally seconds before it happened. Dan shoots himself in the foot by admitting he'd turned his digital recorder off when they started moving into the Hallway towards the sound, it gave Tango seriously bad vibes from that. That seemed to be the 1st sign of who was going to be eliminated right there.

Steve & Tango blow cigar smoke into a room in the East Wing (from outside on ladders) as a test to see if the Cadets can debunk it as a real smell or think its paranormal. Adams Team discover it & trace it to the window where Steve stupidly does a fake scare on them. So even a test was used as a chance to goof off by him. Rosalyns Team smell it but she totally dismisses it as coming from outside & doesnt even bother checking where it was coming from earning her a MASSIVE black mark from Steve. Michelle found the open window & Eric saw the ladder which worked in their favour.

Evidence Analysis & Presentation - Tango plays an EVP caught by Eric & some video found by Adam of a door opening with no-one touching it.

The Findings & Judging Panel - Jason is here for this, Steve bigs up Adams Team for investigating the smell however Tango totally fails to mention that Michelle & Eric DID investigate it on Rosalyns Team. Steve plays audio found by Brett which they claim says "Hear Me" or "Hinkley" but its WAY too muffled to make out. They play Adams door clip which Adam & Michelle both think is paranormal but Eric says he's not sure due to the amount of unknowns involved which gets him mega Brownie points from Jason. They also play Erics audio clip (a voice saying "Yes" that you can barely hear).

Dan struggles to define an Intelligent Haunting (where the entities interact with the investigators questions) but I dont get why they get on his case for doing exactly what Eric got praised for mere seconds earlier, asking questions & having his own ideas. Vera's personal experience of hearing her name whispered is then backed up by audio off the mini DV camera. Steve says Adam did a good job, Tango says Rosalyn was pretty bad (several times as well, not good for her future then).

Steve votes Michelle as his favourite this week, Tango votes for Adam as his favourite so they both get a free pass into next weeks show. In the RV Jason says he feels the elimination spot is between Rosalyn & Dan, they use the 5 TAPS qualities (Honesty, Composure, Technical Knowledge, Scepticism & Patience) (again I am surprised to find patience is least important this week, is this to allow Jason to angrily jump to conclusions about Cadets and make it seem acceptable?) saying both are honest, both have good composure, Dans technical knowledge is dumped on due to his DVR goof earlier, Rosalyns scepticism was dumped on due to her flunking the smell test earlier, this flub also earned Rosalyn a black mark for patience too.

Rosalyn admits she made a mistake over the smell in hindsight, Dan was eventually dismissed.

Extras:- I also watched the various clips from the SyFy page, Vera Under Attack (slightly over dramatically named, she just reports a headache & feeling dizzy which soon passes), First Client Reveal (Adam & Rosalyn doing the client evidence review after last weeks show), Tech Tip From Steve & Tango (using an EMF gauge) and also another (using a Thermal Camera), Father Knows Best (Tango talks to his dad Bruce about the show). All these scenes plus the archive of this weeks webchat are available here:- http://www.syfy.com/connect/ghosthuntersacademy.php

Ghosthunters Academy - S01E07 - The New Class

Coming from Wavery Hills Sanatorium in Louisville Kentucky.

Despite the fact their billing this as part of Season 1 its clearly the 1st episode or pilot of Season 2 as we are introduced to the new class of cadets who are introduced in the following order:- (surnames were ascertained during the course of the investigation, each student was introduced intially by first name only)
Natalie Poole from Dana Point, CA.
Eric Baldino from Wilmington, OH.
Michelle Tate from Midland,TX.
Rosalyn Brown from Woodbury, NJ.
Adam Berry from Provincetown, MA.
Dan Hwang from Newport, RI. (He's obviously a TAPS plant then).
Brett McGinnis from Boyers,PA.
Vera Martinez from San Antonio, TX.

My very first question is where the hell are Ben & Chris from the previous series who were offered places ON TV in episode 6 of Season 1? According to someone on here (the Syfy forum) who asked Tango they chose not to come back. So what was the point of going on the show in the 1st place? It stinks of a hatchet job & I think they were told they weren't coming back no matter what had been said. If thats the case you have both got grounds for legal action against Pilgrim, Syfy and TAPS and you should persue it.

The show kicks off with Jason Hawes coming to brief the cadets, he says 5 qualities every TAPS member should have which are:-
1) Scepticism
2) Technical Knowledge
3) Honesty
4) Composure (he took his chance to rag Brian Harnois, I thought they'd buried that hatchet long ago?)
5) Patience.

FWIW these are NOT the exact same 5 qualities Grant mentioned in show 6. He mentioned Professionalism, Scepticism, Honesty, Composure & Respect. So it already appears both Respect AND Professionalism have gone out of the window?

Steve mentions the format has been modified and the cadets will do more 1 on 1 investigating with him and Tango which pretty much admits they didnt do a good enough job of that in Season 1. They state there will be 6 investigations so I guess there will only be 5 shows bearing the banner of Season 2? The cadets are issued a paranormal kit consisting of a thermometer, digital camera, EMF detector & a digital recorder and are told they are responsible for those items which wont be replaced if lost, they also have a funky backpack to keep it all inside.

Jason drops the bombshell that someone will get eliminated at the end of every investigation & there will only be 3 cadets left in the final show with 1 definate winner so no surprise twists like last Season.

Hot Spot Walkthrough which are Room 502, the 3rd Floor, the Morgue & the Body Chute.

The cadets are split into 2 teams with Tango teaching 1 lot about camera setup and Steve teaching the rest about setting up the Command Centre.

Steve, Michelle, Dan, Eric & Rosalyn in & around Room 502 - Steve tries to fool them with an erratic EMF reading that Rosalyn debunks as moving the meter too fast right away. An EVP is done, they hear what sounds like a creaking (or possibly some sort of EMS siren way off in the distance) and if those were footsteps ghosts wear metal boots as the noise was so heavy!

Tango, Natalie, Adam, Brett & Vera in the Morgue area, this team score their 1st booboo by leaving Natalie behind in the Morgue & it takes Tango asking where she is to have to go get her. Both Steve & Tango emphasize its a no-no to investigate on your own so I guess they read my complaints about Buffalo Central Terminal in New York on show 4 of Season 1. Vera & Adam hear steps and radio Steves group who confirm its not them, Tango & Vera go to check it out and they hear something vocal as they walk past one of the rooms. Tango thinks it was possibly a door rattling.

5th Floor - The group set up EMF meters then hear something which they ask to do it again twice and it does both times (leading me to debunk it as normal, possibly a door in the wind as its windy & snowing outside), they go to check it out & Michelle thinks she sees someone outside the window (on the 5th floor?).

1st Floor - Brett is doing EMF work with Adam and wander off abandoning Natalie yet again. Natalie finds a room with baby buggies in them. I'm not really sure who we saw in the room with the coffins though (I think it was Tango & Vera).

Body Chute area, Dan & company (without Steve who has told them to investigate on their own). Dan is a bit quick with his EVP questions, he wasnt really leaving much space. Rosalyn thought she saw a shadow.

3rd Floor, Tangos group still with Tango. Natalie was being a bit annoying and excessive with her enticement of the dog ghost.

4th Floor, Steves group who he has rejoined. Rosalyn was the same as Dan doing her EVP leaving no gaps at all for answers.

As they packed away my personal thoughts are its a bit stupid getting rid of anyone this week but Natalie wandered off several times scoring against her and Dan & Rosalyn had poor EVP technique scoring against them. If I was sending anyone home myself it would have been Natalie.

Evidence Analysis - Steves group do video and Tangos group do audio.

The Judging Panel - The cadets present the various bits of evidence to Jason.
Eric presents audio he got in Room 502 which they claim says "what are you doing", to me its too quiet to make out any actual words.
Vera presents audio she got on the 1st Floor which they claim says "Is he there", again its just too quiet to make out any words.
Steve then presents something the cadets missed which was video from Room 502 of a tiny light that lasts less than a second.
On the slow motion replay this could easily be debunked as someone with a flashlight walking past the corridor behind the room.
Eric admits it might have been him who missed it. Stupid move Eric.

Steve says he was happy with his team picking out Rosalyn as his current favourite. I guess he never saw her bad EVP methods then?
Tango picked Adam as his current favourite.

Adam & Rosalyn get to go to the actual reveal and will be Team Leaders next week meaning they dont get eliminated either.
Jason asks each cadet who should go. Eric says Natalie even though he never worked with her at all, Vera also says Natalie though her reasons are bulls**t because she was never with her much, Natalie says Brett, Brett also picks Natalie citing her wandering off, Dan is at least honest saying he never worked with her which Jason rags on him for but Eric didnt either and should have been pulled up for the same reasons - Dan really should have picked someone from his own team. Michelle wasnt even asked for her opinion.

Jasons logic of picking on Dan because he couldnt give him an answer is total bull as well. At no point was Michelle EVER critiqued at all, not by her fellow students and not by Jason, Steve or Tango either. Basically she got a free pass here thanks to Dans mistake & Jasons stupidly bullish attitude. What happened to attribute #5 Patience Jason?

Eventually Natalie is dismissed.
