WWE Friday Night Smackdown 25th Apr 08 reviewed

Show opens with Edge & co boring us on the mic.

The Miz vs Shannon Moore. Basically this is WWE telling us they have ZERO creativity left. Morrison fought Yang this week on ECW & now Miz is fighting his partner. Pretty much everyone watching would have predicted Moore to win when this started. Which unsurprisingly he did.

Cherry vs Natalya. Finally! Nattie Neidhart gets an actual proper match on tv that real human people are watching. This was a nice quality match, both women worked well. Cherry sold well, Natalya (I feel weird calling her that) made some great leglocks, clearly the Hart Dungeon taught her some stuff it seems. Natalya won off The Sharpshooter (mark the f**k out for that and the laugh!), all this was missing was Jimmy Hart & a bullhorn & it'd have been perfect!

Matt Hardy & 1 of the colour guys (who cares who he is) bore us on the mic.
Edge vs CM Punk - This was ALL Punk with Edge taking the very undeserved win off a spear after Punk got distracted. S**T Finish!

Vladimir Kozlov vs someone whose name I didn't quite catch (Marty Gurner?). ANOTHER f**king squash match for this boring c**t Kozlov? GET F**KED AND STAY THERE, Kozlov! That's how interesting your matches are. Kozlov wins, BORING, BORING, BORING! WWE need to fire this guy now, he has NOTHING to offer.

World Heavyweight Championship No DQ Match, Batista vs The Undertaker. As a no DQ match I always expected to see interference by Edge & co. As it turned out Shaun Micheals interfered, superkicked Batista & The Undertaker won, retaining his title in amatch that was only just 10 minutes long.

ECW 22nd Apr 08 reviewed

Mixed Tag Match, Kelly Kelly & Tommy Dreamer vs Layla & Mike Knox. Talk about beauty & The beast? This is both! Pretty short & uneventful, Kelly taking the win for her team and Knox doing a number on Dreamer post match.

John Morrison vs Jimmy Wang Yang. Yang must really want his WWE job badly to carry on this AWFUL gimmick that doesn't remotely suit him. The only good part of this match was the moonsault that lead to the win for Jimmy Wang Yang.

Kofi Kingston vs Shelton Benjamin. A fairly decent even match, Kingstons dropkick into Shelton as he was jumping off the top turnbuckle was pretty damn cool, Kofi took the win.

Mark Henry vs Nunzio, with no introductions at all it was a good job both these guys were recognisable. I figured this was a squash match for Henry with Nunzio jobbing which is pretty sad as he used to be a decent worker a few years ago. Henry got the predictable win. What a load of S**TE!

Some c**p with Edge & Kane which took up about 15 minutes of airtime that could have been used on an actual match.

WWE Raw King of the Ring 21st Apr 08 reviewed

KOTR 1st Round - Chris Jericho vs MVP. Pretty even & fairly decent match. Y2J won off The Walls Of Jericho.

KOTR 1st Round - CM Punk vs Matt Hardy. Another even & decent match, CM Punk won.
KOTR 1st Round - Great Khali vs Finlay. Finlay got the shock win when Khali was counted out.
KOTR 1st Round - William Regal vs Hornswoggle. Regal won in seconds.

Shaun Micheals & Batista bore us on the mic.
Hardcore Holly vs Carlito. Carlito won, the match was too long. And s**t.

KOTR Semi-final - Chris Jericho vs CM Punk. Punk won. Could have been much shorter & lots better.

KOTR Semi-final - William Regal vs Finlay. Regal won. Also far too long.
Some weak gimmick match with political lookalikes. Utter S**TE & a waste of TV time.
The Divas bore us on the mic.

KOTR Final - CM Punk vs William Regal. Winner & 2008 King Of The Ring - William Regal.

8 Man Tag Match - Randy Orton, JBL, Chavo Guerrerro & Edge vs HHH, John Cena, Kane & The Undertaker. After all the introductions this match had less than 9 minutes to take place so it was never going to be anything special. Edge won off the spear for his team. Considering how much hype they'd given this main event over the 3 hour show they should be truly disgusted with themselves for how incredibly s**t & weak it was. If they'd not bothered with the politcal c**p or the Diva's they could have done a 20 or 30 minute main event which looked like they gave a f**k. WWE, you utter C**TS!

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 18th Ap 08 reviewed

Yep, this one is late because it took nearly 3 days to do the TNA Catch-Up. As per usual the views expressed are mine, if you don't like them or my language offends then don't read them. Any feedback on the review will be answered.

Show opens with Chris Jericho boring us on the mic. I know I say this about everyone speaking but it's time when people could be having an actual match instead of talking & procrastinating. F**k storylines, I just want to see people kicking the s**te out of each other.

Tommy Dreamer vs MVP. With Matt Hardy at the colour position you assumed there was going to be some interference from him. Why did the ref feel the need to leave the ring to count Dreamer's pin off the DDT? He could see fine where he was. Idiot! MVP got the win.

Matt Striker vs Hornswoggle (with Finlay). There was always going to be LOTS of interference from Finlay here. Hornswoggle won.

Chavo Guerrerro vs Jamie Noble. Chavo got the win with no interference from his new bodyguard Bam Neeley.

Mark Henry vs Big Show. Henry won off a DQ after Khali came out. S**te match! Show could have won in the time it took Khali to walk to the ring.

Divas Match, Cherry vs Victoria. Cherry took the win from a distraction by Michelle.

Vladimir Kozlov vs Leroy Cincade. Kozlov took the win in yet another squash match for him. He's as dull as f**k.

Batista vs The Undertaker. With Edge & his 2 cronies in the front row this was only ever going 1 way. Personally I was waiting for the guy with the 2 very small kids (1 of whom got turfed out of those front seats when Edge arrived) sat behind Edge & co to tell them to sit the f**k down & stop blocking their view. The match ended on a double count-out & it was pretty obvious Edge & friends were going to end up getting involved.

My TNA Fortnighly Catch-up, 17th Apr & 24th Apr 08

Right, this might be earlier than people expect it but I found last weeks & this weeks Impacts online so I'm reviewing them today. I really didn't have the time to review last weeks right away I was still doing the previous months Catch-up but hopefully now I can stay on top of these. To those who are wondering if I was going to review this weeks ECW show, I'm currently not sure myself. I will if I can find the damn time to watch it.

Anyway, the usual caveats apply. The views are my own, I have been known to swear so if you don't like my views or can't bear strong language then don't read this. Any feedback will be anwered.

TNA Impact 17th april 2008 - Show opens with Samoa Joe boring us on the mic.

X Division Championship match, Jay Lethal vs Johnny Devine. 1 second. How is Devine getting a rematch so quickly or at all? It's not like he'd really earned a #1 contender spot (him being the last guy against Lethal in the last PPV was more luck than anything else). Lethal won, pretty poor match actually. Having jumped Lethal during his post match celebration Petey Williams decided to cash in Scott Steiners X-Division title shot right then.

X Division Championship match, Jay Lethal vs Petey Williams. Now by the definition of any sane referee this match is out of the window right away. You've got to DQ Williams for what he did before the match started you'd think? But no, the match is allowed to start, Williams wins very quickly as Lethal is unable to put up any kind of offence Petey Williams is the new X Division Champion.

Matt Morgan bores us on the mic.

3 Way Tag Team Championship Match, LAX vs Eric Young & Kaz vs AJ Styles & Tomko. I'm still trying to work out how Kaz & Young are considered contenders for a title shot at all. It's not as though the "Cuffed" match from the last PPV earned them a title shot in any way. You pretty much knew with Young leaving the ring that Kaz & Super Eric would win the belts to become new Tag Champions.

Tag Grudge Match, Team 3d vs Rhino & Christian Cage. Has Russo got NO imagination left any more? In the last 6 weeks we've had so many grudge matches its unreal. Rhino took the win for his team after he hit Cage with a gore but Devon hit Ray with a clothesline but all is not well with Team 3d. Cornette strips Kaz & Young of the titles after Styles claimed Super Eric was "outside interference" so the tag titles are now vacant.

TNA Knockout Womens Championship Match, Awesome Kong vs Roxxi Laveaux. I was expecting a very short squash match but Roxxi worked well giving a very good account of herself but Kong made the eventual & predictable win. What we really need is a 2 on 1 handicap title match to make things interesting.

6 Man Tag Grudge Match - Kip James, Robert Roode & James Storm vs BG James, Booker T & Sting. As far as the face team went it was a decent line-up of talent. For the heels apart from Kip it was whose nobody thats ever been over as a heel. The action was pretty even on both sides but Booker T got the win after a slight assist from Matt Morgan stopping Storm using the beer bottle. The Booker character swerve was UTTER S**T & could have been done A LOT better if they'd lost & Storm HAD hit him with the bottle but not fully.

TNA Impact 24th April 2008 - Booker T bores us on the mic.

Deuces Wild Tag Tournament Qualifying Match, Rellik & Black Reign vs Team 3D. The outcome of this was pretty predictable. Team 3d took the win, eventually & have resolved their issues it seems. And Rudy Charles? Rellik BARELY got that shoulder up in time on that 1st disallowed pin.

Deuces Wild Tag Tournament Qualifying Match, The Motor City Machine Guns vs Rhino & Christian Cage. It was hard to pick a winner here, the speed & inventiveness of The Guns or the experience of Rhino & Cage. Both teams looked good, Cage was happy working with The Guns, smiling a lot during the match really enjoying himself & he was putting them both over a lot. Cage got the win off the unprettier but The Guns were a much better team by far in this match.

Tag Match, Sting & Booker T vs Robert Roode & James Storm. Sting took the win. Nothing remarkable about this match.

World Heavyweight Championship Title Match, Samoa Joe vs Kurt Angle. This was mainly technical mat based wrestling again, anything that wasn't (high flying or high risk stuff) was all Joe. To be honest this match was mainly Joe and how well he could put Angle over & sell for him. After the interference from Steiner hitting Angle with the pipe when the ref wasn't looking Joe took the win to retain his title.

Cornette books Steiner vs Joe vs Angle 3 way dance for the heavyweight belt @ the Sacrifice PPV.

ECW 15th April 2008 reviewed

8 Man tag Match - CM Punk, Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore & Kofi Kingston vs Elijah Burke, Deuce, Domino & Shelton Benjamin. This sounded like it'd be a very good match with some decent talent involved. Punk's team were the better workers for most of this. Yang sold well & Kingston got an excellent pin. He's bound for greater things for sure.

Diva Dance off - Layla, Maryse, Eve Torres, Lene Yada & Kelly Kelly. Doing this basically says we don't trust these people to actually wrestle so we've got them doing this s**t instead. (Is Lena Yada supposed to be Gail Kim's replacement? She looks very similar & wears the same style costume Gail used to). Kelly Kelly took the obvious win that no-one cared about, such a waste of tv time.

Tommy Dreamer vs Mike Knox. Well at least it was going to be until the GM made it Mike Knox vs Colin Delaney. Colin can certainly take bumps & sell like crazy. I assume their running him as the modern day Mikey Whipwreck? Knox won in a very short match.

Tag Match, The Miz & John Morrison vs The Undertaker & Kane. This was a pretty even match, one of Miz & Morrison's better matches that I've seen. They both worked well enough but Miz looked a bit unsure doing some stuff with Kane which Kane no-sold anyway, showing a low level of in-ring trust. 'Taker & Morrison looked comfortable enough working each other, Undertaker took the win off the tombstone piledriver for his team. No shock there really.

This was another ECW show where they demonstrated they just don't have enough staff to work the matches & fill the air time they have. The Diva Dance off was evidence enough of that point. If they wanted to impress me with Mike Knox, they should have had him take on both Dreamer AND Delaney AND still have won. He'd have gotten way more over, winning in that way. ECW needs its own people and no-one from Smackdown or Raw coming in week after aweek. If they haven't got the staff then it's time to stop the shows & cease the brand until they have.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 11th Apr 08 reviewed

Let me start by saying I actually could have reviewed this on Friday but I really needed the sleep. The show starts with a bit of business between Great Khali & The Big Show. I watched it on fast forward, I hate storyline set-up's & related b**ls**t.

Tag Match - John Morrison & The Miz vs Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore. Even though Miz & Morrison had the upper hand for most of this match it was Yang & Moore who proved to be more entertaining & had miles better moves. Yang doesn't need his s***ty gimmick (I'm assuming he's the Jay Lethal of WWE?) as the guy has talent! Miz took an undeserved win for his team. It's about time they dropped the belts to a WAY more entertaining team.

Finlay vs Matt Striker. Finlay took the win after using the stick. C**p match, waste of good tv time.

Victoria (with Natalaya Neidhart) vs Michelle McCool. Victoria got the win with some outside help. Not a good match at all really.

Batista comes out to bores us on the mic. Shaun Micheals likewise.

Vladimir Kozlov vs Mat Logan. Another squash match for this guy? BORING! Kozlov took the very DULL win. This guy will never be over in a million years. He's a useless c**t. Simple as that.

Matt Hardy vs Chuck Palumbo. With MVP ringside it was pretty certain we were going interference. As pretty s**t matches go, this was one. Hardy got the win. With no interference but Hardy getting "distracted".

Undertaker vs Festus. I have no idea who thought this match would ever be entertaining. How Festus was getting a match against a titleholder is a complete mystery to me. It's not as though he's even a singles competitor. Either 'Taker wasn't taking this match very seriously or Festus is an incredibly sloppy worker as this match revealed far too many of the "secrets" of how wrestling really works.

So many "punches" given away (bad camera angles too) and 'Taker didn't seem to want to sell much of what Festus was giving out as "real". Festus made a lot more of this match than I expected him to but it still looked incredibly scrappy & sloppy, I would use this in their wrestling school as an example of "how not to work on tv". Undertaker got the win off his submission hold. Pretty boring match actually.

WWE Monday Night Raw 14th Apr 08 reviewed

Tonights show coming from London, England from the O2 arena better known as The Millenium Dome! The show opens with HBK boring us on the mic.

#1 Contender Tag Team Match, Santino Marella & Carlito (how the f**k are they in this match, they've been a tagteam all of a week or so?) vs Brian Kendrick & Paul London. Well the other team deserve to be here on account of how they beat the champions recently. Carlito took the win that his team really didn't deserve or put any work into.

Womens Championship Match, Mickie James vs Beth Phoenix. I'm not sure who was putting who over better here, they were both working really well. After that nasty submission Phoenix did, James made a decent comeback attempt and got a great win off a fantastic rollup to become the new Womens Champion.

JTG (from Cryme Tyme) vs Trevor Murdoch. Both of them brought their Tag partners to ringside so it may as well have been a tag match. Well this was f**king awful & over quickly with JTG taking a c***py win.

Randy Orton vs William Regal. Did anyone really believe for even a femto-second that Orton would job to Regal in his home country? Nope, me neither. Orton won off the RKO. No shock there really. Regal was on top for most of this, is this a possible comeback for him?

Intercontinental Championship Match, Umaga vs Chris Jericho. I guess nobody doubted Y2J wouldn't win here. He got his win with the help of the ropes. Scrappy match to be honest.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Paul Burchill. I assume they thought Burchill would get over in his home country with Duggan jobbing? Burchill may have taken the win but he certainly wasn't getting any kind of welcome home from the Brits.

HHH vs JBL. This match is just a case of either who you hate more or who you care less about. Frankly I'm amazed it was the main event of the night. The women had already taken care of that. This was c**p! It really didn't need the run-in by Orton either (BTW, Why did the ref go and get the belt and bring it in the ring? He should have been calling for the bell and a DQ on outside interference with the win to HHH). The ref made no attempt to ever call for a bell or try to stop this. What's the point of a main event with no finish? Even as a set-up for Backlash this was still UTTER S**T!

ECW 8th April 2008 reviewed

The Miz vs Cm Punk. Don't ECW HAVE any f**king workers any more? Their all either working Smackdown or Raw & can't get enough people on their roster to have to get Miz in to work Punk? Incredibly dull match which was far too long. Punk got the win.
Contract signing. BORING!
Elijah Burke vs Nunzio. Burke got a pretty easy win in quite a s**t match.

Domino vs Kofi Kingston. Kington looked better & certainly had the better of this match & took the win.

Colin Delaney vs Tommy Dreamer. If Delaney wins he gets an ECW contract, if Dreamer loses he's fired. Dreamer took a predictable win off a nice spike ddt.

This was another extremely weak ECW. They just don't seem to have the manpower any more and they aern't allowed to be the ECW they used to be. It really would be kinder if they cancelled this show now.

WWE Monday Night Raw 7th Apr 08 review

William Regal bores us on the mic. Set up for Randy Orton vs JBL @ Backlash.

Umaga vs Val Venis. Val's still running that same tired old gimmick from 4 years ago? My money was on Val to job here. Yep, Umaga won. no shock there.

Diva Tag Match, Melina & Jillian Hall vs Ashley & Mickie James. Ashley was doing ok until she no-sold the front face slam from Melina. Mickie James took the win with a lovely DDT. These girls are improving ;-)

Tag Match, Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs Brian Kendrick & Paul London. This match started nicely, London's dropkick into a moonsault was excellent. Cade & Murdoch were all power with London selling well for them. Kendrick took the good win off a very fast inside cradle. Those 2 are certainly fun to watch!

2 on 1 Handicap Match, HHH vs Randy Orton & JBL. Nothing exciting. HHH got a very predictable win.

Tag Match, Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes vs Carlito & Santino Marella. Awful match, Santino took the win. Worst match of the night by far.

Maria vs Beth Phoenix. No belt on the line here though. This was quite a decent match. Phoenix wasn't willing a to sell a couple of Maria's moves but they both looked pretty good. Phoenix took the win.

Jericho bores us on the mic with Batista & Shaun Micheals.

2 on 1 Handicap Match - John Cena vs JBL & HHH. This was all JBL vs Cena really with JBL refusing to tag HHH in then when Cena made any offensive HHH refused to take the tag-in, stepping back so JBL couldn't reach him. HHH & JBL came to blows, JBL hit Orton accidently. Orton RKO'd JBL as the ref was moving HHH out of the ring, Cena threw him out & took the easy pin making it a fatal 4-way for the title @ Backlash. This was certainly better than the 1st 2 on 1 Handicap Match by a long haul. The best RAW I've seen recently.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 4th Apr 08 review

Edge & Chavo come out to bore us on the mic.

MVP vs Matt Hardy - Hardy took the win. Nothing worth writing about in this weak match.

Zack Ryder vs Festus. Festus isn't a bad worker considering the s***ty gimmick, Festus won.

Shaun Micheals comes out to bore us on the mic. Batista likewise.

Vladimir Kozlov vs Matt Bentley. A squash match, Kozlov got the win. S**t Match.

Tag Contest, John Morrison & The Miz vs Shannon Moore & Jimmy Wang Yang. What happened to Moore's old punk gimmick? Morrison got a win off a good swinging neckbreaker.

Khali wanders down, destroys Moore & Yang. Big Show comes down, Khali f**ks off.

Top Diva Contest Winner, Michelle McCool. Who cares? And a s**t catfight.

Kane vs The Undertaker - This was a match that was going no-where & got even worse after the multiple run-ins. Possibly the WORST Smackdown that has ever been aired? Yes!

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

ECW 1st April 2008 reviewed. NOT a joke!

Gosh, well this is a 1st.
I've never reviewed an ECW show (as far as I recall anyway) so this'll be the 1st.

Kane comes out and bores us on the mic, CM Punk likewise.

Stevie Richards vs Mike Knox - Knox took the win. S**te match!

Colin Delaney vs The Big Show - Show took the win. UTTER F**KING S**TE!

Tag Match, Chavo Guerrerro & Shelton Benjamin vs CM Punk & Kane. Shelton & Punk made this match a lot better than it looked. Punk took the win.

If this is the modern ECW, it was better when Heyman was p**sing their funds into the wind.
CLOSE DOWN ECW NOW!
