My Weekly TNA Catch-up, Impact 22nd Oct 09 reviewed

The catch-up is a little late this week due to it being slow to arrive on Usenet, show opens with Kurt Angle turning face & giving props to the boys backstage putting them over. Rhino comes out gobbing off to further his heel push & shoots on Team 3D.

Homicide vs Amazing Red - This had no introductions & was started by Homicide jumping Red in the entrance tunnel where they fought down the ramp, by the ring then the match finally got going legally. Red jobbed for the opening few minutes but his comeback was outstanding with the highlight being his Monkey Flip Piledriver but the match turned around again in seconds with Homicide taking the win off The Gringo Killer.

Matt Morgan vs Scott Steiner - With them announcing a 10 minute time limit it was pretty clear Russo is still holding the reins of Impact, this match was going nowhere & was dull at best when Steiner took a powder to go get himself fondled by Bobby Lashleys wife sitting in the front row near the ramp. Lashley did a run in to beat him up, rolled Steiner back into the ring & Morgan took the win off The Carbon Footprint. Dull as f**k.

Tag Match, Samoa Joe & Kevin Nash vs AJ Styles & Daniels - The tape on Daniels' shoulder was to cover the really high bump he took at the PPV, it was a very weak opening with Daniels going to tag in Styles who wasn't there having dived onto Joe so Nash hit Daniels with a Chokeslam to take an easy win. P**s poor match considering the ability of 3 of these guys.

Raisha Saeed vs Awesome Kong - We've been waiting for this match to roll around for quite a while so after the miscommunication at the PPV it had to happen, not much to call apart from Saeeds top rope Legdrop/Bulldog combo but Kong took the eventual win off The Implant Buster. Kong Powerbombing Saeed off the top of the ramp through a stage was done (I assume) to ensure the full write out of Saeeds character allowing her to concentrate on being Alissa Flash.

Rhino vs Hernandez - A weak match with no spots at all, with Team 3D at the colour desk I was half expecting them to interfere but it turned out to be a big no with Hernandez getting a clean win off a top rope Splash.

Backstage segment, JB interviews Kurt Angle & they are interupted by "Desmond Wolf" (former ROH star Nigel McGuiness) who jumps Angle.

Ultimate X Tag Match, Lethal Consequences vs The Motor City Machine Guns - The stipulation stated the winners get a title shot at the Turning Point PPV, this didn't start well but certainly picked up with too many moves to call going on (highlight had to be Sabins Tornado DDT) & its possible Shelley damaged his knee off the move on Lethal but Sabin took the win after unhooking the X & dropping to the ground.

6 Sides Of Steel Match for the TNA Tag Team Championship, The British Invasion vs Beer Money - Before this even started Robert Roode paused at the bottom of the ramp to hold his lower back & was taped up when the match started so he clearly did get injured taking that bad bump off Big Rob when he overshot a Powerbomb into a table landing on the concrete floor instead but I am quite frankly stunned to see him even walking let alone wrestling here tonight.

Generally this match was Roode jobbing with Storm saving him once but Doug Williams took a big bump falling from the top of the cage to the floor with what looked like quite a nasty landing (pretty bloody silly considering he'd possibly suffered a concussion at the PPV too), Beer Money hit the DWI on Williams but Magnus floored the ref & Earl Hebner came in to make the decision with Beer Money getting the win off a DQ but The British Invasion retain their titles.

Backstage segment, AJ Styles is jumped by a mystery man in the carpark but it was too dark to see who.

Kurt Angle comes to the ring and calls out Desmond Wolf who jumps him at the bottom of the ramp, they scrap a bit outside the ring but Wolf gets the upper hand when they get into the ring (mainly by kneeing Angle in the nuts) but what a great way to debut on Impact.

EDIT:- Having just read Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff have been hired by TNA this will be my final catch-up as I will not watch the show again. Or at least until they have left TNA.
