How to empty the Avast virus chest or vault

Somehow recently a few trojans managed to work their way onto my system (although exactly how I am not sure as Avast is alledgedly supposed to scan everything coming onto the PC) but were soon flagged and placed into the Avast virus chest to keep the rest of the system safe.

It was then I realised I had ZERO CLUE how to check the contents of the chest, how to remove them or even where the damn chest was.

For those who are stuggling here is some useful info.

Go to this folder:- C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4
and locate a program called ashChest. Start it and the procedure should be fairly obvious from there.

In Avast 5 simply go into Maintenance, the chest can be accessed from there

I was getting pretty frustrated looking all over for that Vault, too! Avast found some "new" viruses, that I have to restore, too. Thanks for your blog!
