It's good but in a weird & bizarre way. Basically it's set in a world where we're on the verge of apocalypse & all is NOT well with the world. The story is low on plot, the acting is pretty awful by just about everybody & some of the casting was so wrong it was unreal. Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock plays Boxer, an actor whose written a screenplay about a man crossing into a parallel dimension who causes the destruction of the Universe.
The only trouble is his script is real, he's already crossed into that dimension & the fateful event is due to happen very soon. Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a porn-star who fronts a reality TV chat show & brings absolutely nothing to her role at all. She is so unlike a porn-star in every way imaginable that I wonder why she was cast. Dwayne plays his character well enough, seemingly unaware of all thats going on around him like getting kidnapped, being blackmailed or coming from another dimension. The film looks very good, the effects are pretty good too but the over complicated story and far too involved plot threads that are too heavily woven across the various characters will make this a film that people can watch and like but so many will hate it because its very hard to understand or follow most of the time.
At 1st your told Sean William Scott has a twin brother but you eventually learn he has also passed through the dimensional rift which it turns out creates duplicates of those going through it. A dead duplicate of Boxer exists but it is Scott who ends up destroying the Universe by meeting his duplicate. All in all its a nice looking film with an exceptionally over complex plot that a lot of people will hate it for but it's worth sticking with it as it is quite a good film and will almost certainly improve and get easier to understand the more you watch it.
