Movie Review - The Hills Have Eyes II (remake)

Again I must say I didn't see the original of The Hills Have Eyes & I certainly didn't see the original version of Part 2 either. Right, having said that this is totally awful. Take a platoon of National Guard trainees and take them to a Top Secret Military installation.

Let's stop right there and say "NO! NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!". Now we've totally derailed the entire plot for the film anything else that happens along the way is totally and completely pointless. Their Sgt berating them for being such awfully bad trainees then he takes them somewhere where they already know it's dangerous? No, not going to happen. Trained, tried and tested soldiers would be sent. And certainly NOT National Guardsmen. Most definitely NOT trainees either.

People are killed far too easily. Now I recall only 1 hill person was left alive at the end of the last film and he was a big fat guy who had lived his whole life in a chair and had never left it. So exactly where did all the new baddies come from? A question you can ask but you sure as hell aren't going to get an answer for. I don't know why they bothered to follow Missy into the mine, they were on the hill peoples territory and were always going to struggle there.

Also the guy who had decided to climb down on his own to get help, you knew he was going to be killed somehow. So far by now we only had encountered 3 hill people. the one the soldiers killed, the guy who took missy and the one who killed the bloke climbing. When some of the soldiers fell down the hole in the water the hole looked far too man made, it was too perfect a circle. It stank of a trap to me. The hill person that Napoleon brained with a rock is the same guy who cut the climbers arm off so there are now at least 2 hill people left but we then see another hill person (the guy with the big skull and glasses) but he is killed in less than a few minutes.

Napolean & the girl with him fall right into the lap of yet another hill person but he can talk and appears to want to help them. As far the so called "rape scene"? It's really pointless. you can hardly tell the girl is having sex, let alone being raped.

It felt like the hill man leading the party of soldiers to safety was setting them up into an obvious trap which it turned out wasn't the case. The really awful ending with the graphic that the missing soldiers were listed as AWOL is utter garbage
