Movie Review - Incubo sulla città contaminata (aka nightmare city aka City of the Walking Dead)

Although this was a combined production of the Italian & Spanish Film industries, the film itself is dubbed (not too badly) into English and most if not all on screen signs and writing are in English to make for easy selling of the film in English speaking & reading markets. We're told about a Nuclear accident on the news and some reporters go to the airport to meet the expert coming to inform the city on the issues likely to effect them when an unmarked military Hercules lands and is seemingly empty.

The film makes very good use of hand-held camera shots as if to give you the reporters eye view of the scene. The plane is full of people bent on killing all before them but some seem wounded & badly burnt but all seem to have a taste for human blood. Back at the TV station the main reporter tries to inform the public but is taken off the air by the military before he is able to impart any information. Some of the killers reach the station and start killing actually on air. We also get some mild nudity.

From here we learn these people can feel pain and don't like fire (both of which I was sure they'd use later in the film but didn't). A short while later in a military briefing their called attackers and no-one as yet has said or used the word Zombie. We're told they were effected by high levels of radiation (hence the burns) and have the ability to heal quickly (contradicted by the burns). (My only problem is that only those on the plane should have been facially burnt having been exposed to the radiation. Those infected shouldn't have those burns. Bad Goof there.)

Also that anyone attacked by them will become one of them and that their pretty much indestructible apart from damage to the brain so pretty standard zombie movie fare there then.
The attackers show a collective intelligence and have the ability to use tools and weapons. The attackers enter a power station and destroy it (and the soldiers there don't seem to have been issued the order to shoot at the head, despite it being mentioned in the briefing earlier).

This power failure of course effects the hospital where the reporters wife works as a Doctor. His wife is sent to get extra blood (2 problems with that. its a nurses job, they'd keep extra blood in theatre) to put her in danger and she discovered patients have been attacked and is chased until she finds her husband. Obviously he saves her and their into another day. some of the minor characters family members are killed by their infected friends and the majors mistress has a friend killed in her cellar.

Fleeing the town in an ambulance the reporter & his wife stop for gas (why he goes inside I don't know, he never tries the pumps 1st) and take a rest stop there when they find it empty. We are also treated to a preachy message about technology & progress. They are then besieged by attackers & this is their own fault for not fuelling up as soon as they stopped. They escape by using a firebomb (blowing up their car and the pumps, this should have killed them in the blast too!) and are forced to continue fleeing on foot until they come across a church and the women then says out of the blue about a medieval legend about if the attackers are vampires they can't go into a church(which is promptly debunked when they meet the priest who is infected).

There's a totally impossible effects shot (when the Major shoots his Mistress in the head, a 9mm isn't that powerful) & then the reporter & his wife are wandering through a fair finding dead bodies & dead infected (contradicting what we've already been told that anyone attacked gets infected & the infected are almost impossible to kill). Loads of infected attack them, chasing them onto a roller-coaster where they are rescued by the Major in his helicopter but she falls & dies. Then we discover it was all a dream by the reporter. We then cycle back to the start of the film up to where the plane door opens and the film ends with this message "The Nightmare Becomes Reality..."
