Movie Review - Kinky Boots

The film looks nice. The basic plot is OK. It's based on a true story, and I'm sure then brutalized to have maximum impact on the viewers at the cinema. Non TV's and people who don't know any TV's are going to leave the cinema thinking all TV's are like Lola and taking Lola's definition of TV (we're nothing like Brezhnev in a dress darling, get your research right) and thinking more drag queen.

Lola can't decide if she's a TV or a drag queen. Most drag queens are gay men pastiching women. Most TV's are straight men who want to wear womens clothes. Simple as that. No idea where they filmed "The Angel Bar", but it looked like Madame Jo Jo's in Soho. If it was then they wouldn't allow an all male stag party in there, It's just not that kind of place.

The end where Charlie falls for the girl who works with him and comes up with the idea of changing lines is predictable. That Lola turns up and bales Charlie out in Milan, likewise predictable. And that Lola didn't think the landlady thought she was female? Unlikely. Women can almost always read a TV. Not a bad film, Fairly feel good. I wish they'd done a bit more research on Transvestites and not so much on shoes like they obviously did.
